Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba now predicts that President William Ruto will ultimately sideline all the Mt Kenya politicians and lawmakers currently allied to him.
While taking stock of the president's five-day working tour of the region, Wamuchomba observed that the elected leaders who were in the president's entourage were accorded a hostile reception due to the failures to deliver on their promises.
According to the Githunguri MP, none of her colleagues currently loyal to Ruto would be re-elected in the 2027 elections.
She projected that Ruto would soon realise that his popularity in Mt Kenya is dwindling due to his association with the current leaders; and to enhance his chances of reelection, he will want to sever his ties with the unpopular leaders and instead forge friendship with the voters' favourite candidates.
At the same time, Wamuchomba claimed that the rallies were packed due to the mobilisation done using monies promised to the attendees.

According to her, the attendance at the president's rallies was hugely motivated by money.
"Mr President should visit Mt Kenya every three months. It was a good ATM for the locals and a political mirror for him and his YES MPs. Just like the last parliament, all YES MPs will not escape the chopping board. Ruto will align with the popular aspirants. Anyway, no mercy; it’s payback for the impeachments and finance bill pains. Ground is KING," she said.
In the course of his tour, the president was forced to intervene as his allies in the entourage received backlash from the public.
Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wah, one of Ruto's chief loyalists, was among the leaders heckled during the president's tour.
The hostility is believed to have been fuelled by, among other things, the impeachment of former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua.
A host of Mt Kenya leaders who had previously pledged allegiance to the president shifted to Gachagua's fold and vowed to stick by him all through.
