Police officers have arrested 26-year-old Bernard Kungu, a suspected notorious drug peddler in Migori County.
In a statement on Tuesday, April 15, DCI said the suspect was nabbed after officers from Migori Police Station received a report of a suspicious man trying to board a bus to Mombasa at the Tahmeed booking office in Migori town.
“In a move fueled by actionable intelligence, officers from Migori Police Station swooped in and nabbed a notorious drug peddler, recovering 152 rolls of bhang. Responding to reports of a suspicious character trying to board a bus to Mombasa at the Tahmeed booking office in Migori, officers rushed to the scene,” read part of the statement
DCI noted that the 26-year-old was intercepted at the booking office while carrying two bulky bags.
The suspect was taken to Migori Police Station, where officers recovered 152 rolls of bhang hidden in the bags.

“Escorted back to the station for a little 'unpacking session,' the officers unearthed 152 rolls of bhang tucked neatly in the bags,” DCI stated.
Upon interrogation, Kungu revealed that he was transporting the rolls of bhang to Mombasa County.
The suspect is now in custody as he undergoes processing pending arraignment in a court of law.
DCI further said the recovered rolls of bhang have been detained and will be used as exhibits.
