The Met Department advised Kenyans who will travel or spend time outdoors during the Easter weekend to plan accordingly.

The Kenya Meteorological Department has announced that rainfall will persist across several parts of the Country during the Easter weekend.

In a 5-day weather forecast on Friday, April 18, the weatherman projected that isolated heavy rainfall would be experienced in parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley.

The region includes; Nairobi, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka-Nithi counties.

Other regions that are expected to receive heavy rainfall include; Lake Victoria Basin, South-eastern lowlands, the Coast, as well as North-western and North-eastern Kenya.

“Planning for the long Easter weekend? Here’s what to expect: Rainfall is expected to persist over several parts of the country.

“Isolated heavy rainfall events are likely in parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, Nairobi, Lake Victoria Basin, South-eastern lowlands, the Coast, as well as North-western and North-eastern Kenya,” the weather forecast read in part.

According to the weatherman, the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley will experience cloudy mornings with light rains over a few areas, breaking into sunny intervals.

Showers and thunderstorms will be widespread in the afternoon, while rain will fall in a few places overnight.

In the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley, there will be rain in a few places in the morning, showers and thunderstorms in a few places in the afternoon, and showers in a few places in the night.

The Met Department also advised members of the public who will travel or spend time outdoors during the Easter period to plan accordingly.

“If you’re travelling or spending time outdoors this Easter, be weather-aware and plan accordingly,” the Met Department stated.
