Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi now claims he gave former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua money to campaign during the 2022 general elections.
Speaking on Tuesday, April 22, the UDA lawmaker accused Gachagua of lying to Kenyans that he spent his money to campaign for President William Ruto.
Sudi alleged that the former DP did not have money during the campaigns ahead of the 2022 election.
However, he did not mention the amount of money he allegedly gave the former DP to campaign.

“Rigathi Gachagua knows how much money I gave him to campaign. He goes around lying to people that he funded the campaigns. Let’s be honest, Gachagua didn’t even have a single cent,” Sudi claimed.
The Kapseret lawmaker dismissed claims that Gachagua was picked as Ruto’s running mate due to his financial capability and mobilizing skills.
“We chose Gachagua for our strategic reasons and because we saw that he was older. The person who was supposed to be Deputy President was Ndindi Nyoro, but we thought many people would say he’s too young and that we might end up misusing him.
“So, we decided to go with Gachagua because he’s older, but it turned out he had a lot of issues,” Sudi alleged.
In August 2024, during an interview with a local TV station, Gachagua revealed that he single-handedly funded the UDA presidential campaign in Mt Kenya and was not given even a shilling by President Ruto.
"I'm a rich man, I made a lot of money during the Kibaki government and I financed UDA campaigns without receiving a penny from him (President Ruto) in Mt Kenya,” Gachagua stated.
Gachagua was impeached on October 18, 2024, after the Senate upheld the impeachment done by the National Assembly.
