"Their criticism of President Ruto is not an ODM affair; it's a minimal voice in the arrangement."

Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has attributed the criticism of the Kenya Kwanza administration by top Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) governors to feelings of marginalization in the broad-based government.

In a statement on Thursday, April 24, Nyamu suggested that governors James Orengo (Siaya) and Anyang' Nyong'o (Kisumu) are unsettled by the change of political influence within the coalition government.

She argued that the two, who have long held senior roles within ODM, are uncomfortable with the shift in power dynamics introduced by the new political arrangement.

"Governors James Orengo and Anyang' Nyong'o are just unsettled because they feel sidelined in the broad-based arrangement.

"They have been enjoying seniority in ODM, but with the broad-based arrangement, we have Opiyo Wandayi and Hassan Joho serving as Cabinet Secretaries and holding higher positions than them," she said.

Nyamu dismissed their criticism of President William Ruto, arguing that it stems more from personal discontent than the position of the ODM party.

"Their criticism of President Ruto is not an ODM affair; it's a minimal voice in the arrangement," she added.

At the same time, Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei accused Nyong’o, Orengo, and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna of undermining the progress of the broad-based government.

Speaking on Thursday, April 24, Cherargei said the three have been actively working to derail the model championed by the Kenya Kwanza administration.

“Governor Nyong’o, James Orengo and Sifuna are saboteurs of the broad-based arrangement. They have been trying by all means to sabotage the broad-based government which has undermined its success and stability,” he claimed.
