Matiang’i said he would work with like-minded leaders ahead of the next generation election.

Former Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i received a warm welcome in the Kisii and Nyamira counties as he held his first public rally on Friday, May 2.

Residents turned out in large numbers, lining the streets to listen to the former Interior CS, whose return has sparked widespread interest.

Matiang’i’s motorcade made its way through the busy towns, drawing crowds as people eagerly gathered to hear from him.

Addressing locals in Nyansiongo town, Nyamira County, Matiang’i said he would work with like-minded leaders ahead of the next generation election.

“I have heard everything you have said. I want to assure you that we will talk with other like-minded leaders to walk together in this course,” he said.

In a statement on Wednesday, April 30, Team Matiang’i Secretariat said the tour will mark the former CS’s return to the public stage after a period of political silence.

The Secretariat confirmed that the event will bring together all elected leaders from the Gusii region including Kisii Governor Simba Arati and Nyamira Governor Amos Nyaribo.

"Dr. Matiang'i will be accompanied by all elected leaders from the Gusii region, including Governors Simba Arati and Amos Nyaribo, Senators Momoima Onyonka and Okong'o Omogeni, as well as Members of Parliament and Members of County Assemblies,” the statement added.

The day-long tour will feature stopovers in Kijauri, Keroka, Keumbu, Kisii Town, and Nyamira.

Additionally, courtesy visits are planned at the offices of Kisii and Nyamira county governors.

“The visit will include a meet-the-people tour and official courtesy visits to the offices of the respective Governors of Kisii and Nyamira Counties.

"Key stopovers during the tour: Kijauri, Keroka, Keumbu, Kisii Town, and Nyamira. This visit underscores Dr. Matiang'i's commitment to listening to the people and reconnecting with the grassroots,” the statement concluded.
