Police officers have arrested three suspects following an incident where a shoe was hurled at President William Ruto while addressing the public in Kehancha, Migori County.
Preliminary investigations over the incident suggest the attack on the President may have been politically motivated and possibly premeditated ahead of his visit to the county.
The police are also pursuing more suspects who played a role in the attack on the Head of State.
The incident that occurred on Sunday evening briefly disrupted the event in Migori County.
In a video seen by Nairobileo.co.ke, President Ruto was mid-speech when the shoe was thrown at him and nearly hit him on the face. The president, however, blocked the shoe with his hand as it landed on him.

Ruto paused briefly before he continued addressing the Migori county locals on matters concerning reducing the cost of farming.
During the incident, security officers tasked with protecting the president quickly rushed to the stage and pushed the crowd away from the dais, but Ruto asked them to stop.
Meanwhile, the incident sparked a debate online with a section of netizens condemning it as a disrespect to the presidency.
However, other social media users linked the attack to rising frustration over economic and political issues in the country.
President Ruto, who is in Migori for a 3-day developmental tour, had attended an Interdenominational Prayer Service at Kadika Primary School in Suna East on Sunday morning.
Following the service, he made his way to Piny Oyie, where he opened the Suna East Sub County Office and laid a foundation stone for Suna West Technical and Vocational College.
Afterwards, Ruto headed to Kuria West where he broke ground for the 298-unit Kehancha Affordable Housing Project.
