Nairobi Senator and ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has strongly dismissed the notion of a 'broad-based government,' describing it nonexistent.
Speaking on Wednesday, May 7, Sifuna insisted that there is no such recognized structure in place, noting that all current government positions remain under the exclusive control of Kenya Kwanza.
“This thing called broad-based government, I don’t know where it exists. Personally, I don’t recognize any entity called broad-based. There is a government of Kenya Kwanza under the leadership of President Ruto, and every CS serving in that government serves the Kenya Kwanza government.
"Some of the individuals who joined government recently think they joined to represent their ethnic communities,” he said.

The broad-based arrangement was established following the signing of a working MoU between President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga at KICC, Nairobi.
Notably, Sifuna was among leaders present at the meeting but he explained that he was there in his capacity as ODM Secretary General.
He clarified that ODM had taken the initiative to publicly outline the details of the agreement to ensure clarity and transparency.
"In the capacity as SG, I have certain constitutional duties, and that is why I am standing here to execute those duties in accordance with the constitution of ODM.
"We have taken the liberty to read out this memorandum of understanding so that we are clear on what it is and what it is not," he said.
Sifuna noted that Kenya has experienced prolonged political crises that have hindered development and that the agreement was aimed at fostering collaboration between UDA and ODM.
"Kenya has faced a long period of political crisis that has hampered development. Ruto and Raila, as leaders of the largest parties, acknowledge the need for a broad platform to collaborate and address these long-standing challenges," he added.
