National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula has called on Members of Parliment to take their security detail for fresh vetting.
Speaking during the requiem mass of Kasipul MP Charles Were on Wednesday, May 7, Wetang'ula explained that the move was aimed at protecting the MPs.
He added that the vetting would help in ascertaining the character of the officers assigned to the lawmakers.
Further, the Speaker announced that he had instructed the clerk of the National Assembly to compile all CCTV footage in Parliament where Were was captured on the day he was killed.
He detailed that the CCTV footage would help the police widen their investigation and get any potential leads regarding the shooting of the MP.

"I want to encourage each one of you to submit your security detail for vetting, for us to get to know what kind of security you have. Kikulacho ki nguoni mwako," he remarked.
"I have instructed the clerk of Parliament to put together all our CCTV footage on the activities and movements of Were. From the time he arrived at the gym at 6 am until the time he left parliament at 7 pm. That material will assist the police."
The remarks by Wetang'ula came after Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen revealed that some insiders of the slain MP were under investigation.
According to the CS, preliminary investigations indicated that the killers were collaborating with the close aides of the MP.
"It is within my knowledge that we have made significant progress in arresting the perpetrators and their collaborators. It will shock you that this was a very heinous crime that was done in a very cavalier manner, involving people who ordinarily should have taken care of the interests of the MP," the CS stated.
"We want to affirm that the government will bring those perpetrators to book. Their discipline and punishment will be an example for those who think that they can hide from such crimes."
