The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested three directors of Ramagon Construction Company Limited over their alleged involvement in a Ksh60 million public funds scandal linked to a project at Matili Technical Training Institute in Bungoma County.
In a statement on Wednesday, May 14, EACC confirmed the arrest of Abdi Barre Abdi, Hassan Bare Abdi, and Nagenye Mohamud Dahir, who are being investigated for procurement irregularities and fraudulent activities related to the construction of a twin workshop complex at the institution.
"EACC has arrested three directors of Ramagon Construction Company Limited—Abdi Barre Abdi, Hassan Bare Abdi, and Nagenye Mohamud Dahir, in connection with ongoing investigations into procurement irregularities and fraud related to the construction of a twin workshop complex at Matili Technical Training Institute (MTTI) in Bungoma County.
"The investigation revealed that the company, in collusion with public officials, irregularly inflated the original contract value from Ksh29.3 million to Ksh59 million, resulting in an overpayment of Ksh22 million for services not rendered," the statement read.

EACC also disclosed that Ramagon Construction fraudulently claimed an additional Ksh9 million, which contributed to the illegal auction of the institute’s driving school vehicle.
“The company falsely claimed a further Ksh9 million, leading to the fraudulent auction of Matili Institute’s driving school motor vehicle, valued at Ksh5.4 million, for Ksh1.2 million,” the agency added.
The suspects were arrested in Bungoma and are currently being processed at the EACC Headquarters and the Commission’s Western Regional Office.
EACC said it will forward the findings of the investigation to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for consideration.
