Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has addressed the recent incident in which a shoe was allegedly thrown at President William Ruto.
Speaking in an interview on Wednesday, May 14, Murkomen assured the public that investigations into the matter are underway.
Additionally, the CS downplayed the incident, likening it to similar past events involving world leaders.
"That is not unprecedented, you have seen situations where sometimes a shoe is thrown at a president, it happened to President George Bush. Investigations are ongoing to establish whether the person threw the shoe as shown from different angles," he said.
Murkomen stated that authorities are working to determine the intent behind the act, assuring that due process will be followed.

He also dismissed concerns over Ruto's safety following the incident, reaffirming the reliability of the president's security team.
"If the evidence shows that it was not intended, it was not malicious, then I think the DCI and the police should be able to close the file; if it was, then they will be charged in a court of law.
"So far, there have never been circumstances where I thought that there is a security lapse around the President, he is well protected," he added.
Murkomen further shed light on Ruto’s unpredictable interaction style with the public, noting that his desire to engage with citizens sometimes puts pressure on his security.
"The President behaves differently depending on the area he has gone and the security briefing he has received. However, President Ruto is a very difficult man, when he sees wananchi, he feels very energized and wants to mingle with them. Sometimes he even asks security to let people get close to him," he stated.
Ruto was hit by a shoe while addressing a roadside rally in Migori on Sunday, May 4.
In a video seen by Nairobileo.co.ke, the head of state was mid-speech when the shoe could be seen flying and hitting him.
