Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua launched the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP)on Thursday, May 15, with the political outfit launching registration campaigns.
As detailed by interim Deputy Party leader Cleophas Malala, Kenyans can join the party using their phones via USSD.
Those in Other Parties
For those who wish to join DCP and are in other political parties, they will have to deregister from their current political outfit. Below is the process of resigning from a party.
- This can be done by dialling *509#.
- Enter your Office Of The Registrar Of Political Parties (ORPP) PIN.
- Select the main menu and follow the prompts that will be listed. Select option 1- membership, and then on the next prompt, select option 3 - resign.

Kenyans Who Have Never Joined a Political Party
For those using the USSD for the first time and have never registered to join a political party.
- Dial *509# and register for the USSD service. You will be prompted to enter your ID number and first name.
- You will then be prompted to confirm your details before a PIN is sent to your phone.
- Dial *509# again
- Enter your ORPP PIN
- Select Membership
- On the next prompt, select the - Join a party option.
- Enter the party name - DCP.
- Enter the party code - 829.
- Confirm the details.
