Gachagua revealed that Ruto was a frequent visitor to his home, adding that he keeps their joint photos for a special reason.

Former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua has opened up on his decision to keep President William Ruto's photos at his home despite their bitter fallout.

Gachagua has their joint photos with the president, perhaps as a memento, saying there is a special reason behind it.

Speaking in a YouTube interview on Friday night, May 16, Gachagua explained why he still had the photos when he ordinarily would have discarded them after his relationship with President William Ruto got irreparably damaged.

He said he keeps those photos to be reminded of betrayal by the president.

According to him, his encounter with Ruto serves as a lesson not to trust people anyhow, stating that looking at the photos every time switches him back to sanity when he is about to trust someone else again.

"William Ruto was a frequent visitor to this home. Pastor Dorcas has cooked for him many times as he sought my friendship and support. The pictures have been there. I made a decision to let them stay there because they are a constant reminder of betrayal. When I see him, a man who came here many times, calling and eating here, staying for long, asking me to call people for him to talk to, and then he betrayed me in such a vicious manner, I decided that his picture should stay there so that when I come in and see him and remember about the betrayal," he said.

Gachagua shared that he had learnt never to bank on a word of mouth when making crucial agreements with people.

He is on record explaining how he trusted the president and never signed any deal during the 2022 campaigns.

That, he said, was his main undoing, as he had nowhere to reference when the president seemed to be shortchanging him.

Gachagua has unveiled his new political party, DCP, which he will use as his political platform ahead of the 2027 vote.

His mission, according to him, is to successfully challenge Ruto out of office.

He has accused the president of supposedly running down the country and raiding the pockets of an already overtaxed public, promising to change things if his faction is entrusted with power in 2027.
