Gachagua had claimed that Ruto had made between Ksh3-4 trillion in the last two years.

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's claims over wealth accumulated by President William Ruto in the last two years have elicited mixed reactions.

While appearing before the Obinna Live show on Friday, May 16, Gachagua alleged that Ruto had made between Ksh3-4 trillion in the last two years.

"In my estimation, in the last two years, he must have made between Ksh3 to 4 trillion. He is filthy rich. I think that was his dream. I do not think he cares about this country," Gachagua claimed.

Following the remarks, some Kenyans questioned whether it was possible to accumulate such wealth in two years.

Led by Wehliye Mohamed, those sceptical of the figures expressed that it would be difficult for anyone to make such wealth within a short time.

"$29 billion and there are still people who trust what this guy says," Mohamed expressed.

"That is a mindblowing amount equal to Kenya's one-year budget. Is Riggy G talking of parcels of land plus gains from projects? It does not make sense. How come MDAs are still functioning? How come salaries and debt obligations were met?" X user C. Roiginson opined.

On the other hand, some argued that making such wealth was not impossible should someone made mega deals in government.

"Kenya is a rich nation, so this claim makes sense. Those saying KRA collects whatever should know that the wealth of a nation is not estimated by taxes," Will Kirima argued.

Africa's richest person according to Forbes is Aliko Dangote with a net worth of Ksh3.1 trillion. No Kenyan was listed top 21 list of 2025.

Ruto is yet to respond to the allegations made by Gachagua.
