The Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) seems to be making strides days after its launch, if the pronouncements by its leader could be anything to go by.
Former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua is the new outfit's leader.
Speaking in an interview on Friday evening, May 16, Gachagua revealed that the party was enjoying support from its new base, which was ready to pump in resources to keep the party going.
He revealed the party had received close to KSh 100 million in the form of donations from members and partners.
"DCP is a people's party. I am not going to fund it because I don't have those kinds of resources. It will be run by members. People already have large sums of money. As of last week, we were almost at Sh 100 million, and that was before the party was launched. We will shortly be rolling out our paybill number and bank accounts, including a dollar account for those in the diaspora," he said.

He implored his supporters to own the party and support it.
Gachagua said the outfit would be officially launched in June, calling for more financial support to make the fĂȘte a success.
He stated that DCP would be majorly steered by the young people, whom he said were ripe to bring reforms to the country.
"We are asking people to support this party, those who really believe in liberating this country and want to be part of this process to also put some money into it, depending on ability. No money is small," he said.
Well-wishers had already donated some vehicles for the operations of the party, with Gachagua adding that more resources were needed to open and furnish offices.
