Kenya Power said the outages are necessary to facilitate essential network maintenance.

Kenya Power has announced that several parts of the country will experience planned power interruptions on Thursday, May 22. 

In a statement on Wednesday, May 21, the company stated that the outages are necessary to facilitate essential network maintenance.

In Nairobi, power will be cut from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in several key locations. 

Affected areas include parts of Kitsuru, notably Lower Kabete Road, the Kenya School of Government, Lower Kabete Primary School, University of Nairobi's Lower Kabete Campus, Mwimuto, New Kitsuru, and Kitsuru Springs Estates. 

Parts of Gigiri will also experience outages, particularly along Mangolia Drive, Mangolia Close, Daize Drive, and Daize Close. 

Additionally, the St. Mary’s School area will be affected, including Loreto Convent Msongari, Moody Awori Spur, Muthangari Police Station, parts of James Gichuru Road, Kabaserian Avenue, Kanjata Crescent, and surrounding areas.

In Makueni County, the power interruption will run from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. affecting areas stretching from Matani to Isovya. 

This includes Maiani Market, Enzai, Mukaa, Bishop Ngala, Nguluni, Watema, Kitandi, Kilome, Nunguni, Mitini, Kavatanzou, Wautu, and neighboring communities.

In the Central Rift region, Bomet County will see outages from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Lolgorian and Mararianda. 

Affected locations include Olpisiai, Kichwa Tembo, Kawai, Engos, Angama, Mara Engai, Oldonorok, Gwitembe, and Masururaangata Market, along with adjacent areas.

The North Rift region will also be impacted, with parts of Uasin Gishu County set to lose power from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

Areas affected include Olare, Ngaria, Ainabkoi, Ndanai, Chelachbei, Kapkeno, Cheboror, and nearby customers.

In the Western region, Kakamega County's Musoli area will be affected from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

This includes Musoli Market, Aktsa Market, Bukura College, Sigalagala Polytechnic, Ilesi Market, and Khaega Market. 

Bungoma County will also experience outages during the same hours in Bukembe and Mechimeru. 

Locations such as Bukembe Market, Misanga, Kombo Primary, Kongoli, Sikalame, Nzoia Sugar Factory, Nzoia Makuti, Machinjoni, Luuya, Khachonge, Bwake, Nangili, Almond, Rojja Villa, Mabanga ATC, Marobo, Sitila, Golden Mabanga, and Khasosi will be affected.

In the South Nyanza region, Kisii County’s Nyangusu and Getumo areas will have power interruptions from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 

Impacted areas include Nyangusu Town, St. Theresa's Nyangusu Secondary School, Getare SDA Church, Magena Town, and Mara Tea. 

In Homa Bay County, a scheduled outage will run from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., affecting Gendia, Kosele, Nyafare, Simbiri, Otula, Namba Saye, Kiwiro, Nyali-gosi, Dago, Kaditonge, Waradho, Namba Raeri, Karabok Junction, Ginche, and surrounding areas.

In the Mt. Kenya region, Nyeri County will experience outages from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Ring Road, Kamakwa, Upper Ring Road, Kandara, Mt. Kenya School, the PC Residence, Baraka Estate, Kamakwa Market, and Kamakwa Waterworks. 

Isiolo County is also affected, with planned maintenance in Archers Post, Wamba Town, Sarova Shaba, Kalama, Lengusaka, Lerata, Swari, Lolokwe, and surrounding locations.

In the North Eastern region, Kiambu County will see outages in two key areas. 

In Sigona and KARI, locations such as Zambezi, Nderi, Muguga, Kanyayo, Renguti, Ondiri, Rumwe, Mugumoini, and Kamangu will be without power from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

Juja area along Bob Harries Road will also be affected, including Mungetho, Mirimaini, Kiaora Farm, Nchengo Farm, Mtaro Farm, Kariki Farm, Bob Harries, and Kijito.

In the Coast region, Taita Taveta County will experience an outage in parts of Loitoktok. This includes KWS Maktau, Maktau Town, Lumo Conservancy, Lions Bluff, Kwa Mnengwa, and Godoma.
