Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei now says the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party will go after rebellious members of the party.
Speaking on Thursday, May 22, Cherargei said UDA members should differentiate between freedom of association and loyalty to the party.
“You should distinguish freedom of association from loyalty to a party. I am warning the likes of Nyutu and others who want to be rebels within the UDA party. The party will come hard on them,” said Cherargei.
He went on to say that nominated Senator Gloria Orwoba was expelled from the UDA party for promoting another party’s ideals.
“The statements she made in Kisii during Matiang’i’s homecoming and the remarks she made after appearing before the UDA disciplinary committee were made in bad faith by saying she had to be there because Matiang’i is from her community. Which defence is that? You cannot promote the ideals of another party,” Cherargei added.

This comes after Senate Speaker Amason Kingi officially declared Orwoba's seat in the Senate vacant following her expulsion from UDA.
In a gazette notice, Speaker Kingi said the position became vacant effective Wednesday, May 21.
"It is notified for the general information of the public that pursuant to Article 101 (2) of the Constitution of Kenya, a seat of the Member of the Senate elected under Article 98 (1) (b) of the constitution, held by Senator Gloria Orwoba, has become vacant with effect from the 21st May, 2025," the notice read.
However, Orwoba obtained a conservatory order suspending her expulsion from UDA pending a full hearing and determination of her application.
The high court also blocked her removal as a UDA-nominated Senator.
