The power interruptions are part of ongoing maintenance programme.

Kenya Power has announced scheduled power interruptions set for Friday, May 23, as part of its ongoing maintenance program. 

In a statement on Thursday, May 22, Kenya Power said residents and businesses along Nairobi's Isaac Gathanju Road will experience a power outage from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  

The affected areas include Naurid Merali Road, parts of Maji Mazuri, Tiles & Carpet Centre, sections of James Gichuru Road, Lavington Curve, Jeffery Club, and surrounding customers.

In the Central Rift Region, parts of Nakuru County, specifically Rongai Town and its environs, will be without power from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 

Areas impacted include Kandutura, Waka Center, Kware, Thirandu, Kapwen, Rongai Primary School, Arasa Center, BP Flora, Kimangu, and nearby areas.

The North Rift Region will also be affected, with extensive outages in Uasin Gishu County. 

Power will be interrupted in Cheptiret, Bayete, and Lorian between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., affecting areas such as Kapkoiga, Kerita, Kapkoi, Kiptanui Farm, Koiluget, Rurigi, and Kaptumo. 

Additionally, residents in Moiben Centre and Kabomoi, including Chebororwa Girls, Kokwet, Kapsigilai, Meibeki, Cheukta, Kapmaram, and Kiboroum, will experience outages during the same period.

In South Nyanza Region, areas in Homa Bay County such as Gendia, Kosele, and Karabok will undergo a planned power shutdown from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 

Affected institutions and markets include Sikri Vocational Training, Mikai Market, Ober High School, Otel Primary and Secondary Schools, Kakelo Secondary School, Dudi Girls, Atemo Water Supply and Secondary School, Owalo, Ringa, Kadongo, Lida, and Bware markets, Ramula DO’s Office, Oriang Complex, Okok Girls, Othoro Market, and Kodada Centre.

In the Mt. Kenya Region, power will be cut from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in parts of Nyeri County, including Kigogoini, Wandumbi, Cuba, Kiriti Secondary School, Kamahuru TBC, Kamakia, and Gacuiro.

In the Coast Region, power outages are scheduled in parts of Taita Taveta County, particularly in Loitoktok and Mwatate. 

The affected areas include Sarova and Salt Lick Lodges and Hotels, Mwashuma, Bura, Nyolo, Zare, the entire Kamtonga area, Chungaunga, and surrounding customers, with interruptions expected from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
