Human rights activist Hussein Khalid has revealed that Boniface Mwangi can barely walk after his release by Tanzanian authorities.
In a statement dated Thursday, May 22, Khalid claimed that Mwangi was severely tortured, making it difficult for him to walk.
Khalid also shared videos of Mwangi, in which visible injury marks could be seen on his legs.
The activist noted that Mwangi was in need of medical assistance, adding that they were planning to transfer him from Ukunda, where he was found, to Nairobi.

"Boniface Mwangi was dumped at Horohoro border post this morning by Tanzanian security agents. He has been severely tortured and can barely walk," read the statement in part.
"His body is broken, but his spirit remains strong. Agather is still missing and was equally ghastly tortured in the same location as Mwangi. We are making arrangements to transfer Boniface Mwangi to Nairobi for medical attention.
Mwangi was arrested by Tanzanian authorities after he travelled to the neighbouring country.
According to the authorities in the neighbouring country, the human rights activist provided false information on the purpose of his visit.
Notably, Mwangi travelled to Tanzania at a time when there were court proceedings for Tundu Lissu, a Tanzanian opposition leader who is facing treason charges.
Tanzania, through President Samia Suluhu, claimed that foreign activists were interfering with their internal affairs.
Consequently, she called on the security agencies to prevent the individuals from accessing the country.
As a result, notable Kenyans, including Martha Karua and former CJ Willy Mutunga, were deported.
