This incident comes months after KNH confirmed the tragic death of Gilbert Kinyua, a patient who was fatally stabbed with a kitchen knife in the facility.
In a statement on Friday, February 7, the hospital expressed its condolences to the victim’s family, noting that an internal investigation has been launched.
The circumstances surrounding the fatal stabbing remain unclear, but KNH has stated that it is working closely with law enforcement authorities to establish the facts.
"We are deeply saddened to confirm an incident involving the tragic death of a patient at Kenyatta National Hospital. Our thoughts and prayers are with the patient’s family during this difficult time.
"The Hospital is working closely with law enforcement authorities and has launched an internal investigation to determine the facts surrounding this incident," the statement read.
Speaking after the incident, Kinyua's wife, Susan Wanjiku, disclosed that she got a call from the hospital - where she was required to go and identify a body.
She added that she was later informed that her husband had been murdered under mysterious circumstances.
Wanjiku stated that she did not know who would want to harm her husband even as investigations into the incident continue.
"They called me and told me to go to the hospital to identify the body. After that, I was informed that his death was not natural and it was murder, his throat was slit. I do not know who did that beastly act," she stated.
