Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has responded to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over his remarks on Mt. Kenya musicians who visited the DP's office.
Speaking on Sunday, May 25, Kindiki condemned what he described as intimidation and disrespect towards artists and leaders.
He stated that no one should dictate what artists should do, further promising to invite even more musicians to meet him.
“Stop lecturing us. Who are you? Are you God? Who are you threatening? Do I look like someone who can be threatened? You’re complaining about 50 musicians who came to see me. I’ll now invite 500 musicians to Karen. Let’s see what you’ll do,” he said.
Kindiki also took issue with Gachagua's remarks that no one should listen to music by musicians who visited his office.

“Who are you to tell Kenyans to stop listening to their music? Don’t lecture us, we’re not your children,” he added.
Earlier Sunday, Gachagua hit out at Mt. Kenya musicians who visited Kindiki saying they erred by siding with the regime that has supposedly oppressed Kenyans.
As a way to get back at them, he asked his supporters to deplatform the musicians, massively unfollow them, snub their shows, shun their music, and even block them from events.
This, until they apologise, Gachagua said, adding that he had engaged with the elders to reach that resolution.
"We are saddened that they have betrayed us as a community...I met elders, and they asked me to announce that; we should stop listening to their music; secondly, entertainment joints should cancel them, and if an establishment invites them, let us all boycott the establishments and patronise other joints that comply.
"On social media, we shall unfollow them. They were bribed with Ksh50,000, yet the people they went to have oppressed us. Unfollow them if they don't apologise, and entertainment joints' owners should stop inviting them. That is the only way to protect this community," he declared.
