The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has issued a notice announcing a temporary traffic disruption along a section of the Nairobi Southern Bypass.

In the notice issued on Monday, June 2, KeNHA said the affected area is near the entrance of the China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) Camp.

"The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify the public that a section of the Nairobi Southern Bypass near the entrance of the CRBC Camp, opposite the Nairobi National Park, will experience a temporary traffic disruption," the notice read.

According to KeNHA, the disruption is due to the installation of stress-strain sensors on the highway pavement.

"The disruption follows the installation of stress-strain sensors on the highway pavement. An initiative that aims to test the mechanical response of the pavement, record traffic volumes and axle load data as well as prediction of pavement's service life," the notice added.

Additionally, KeNHA said the installation will necessitate the closure of the outer single lane for approximately 10 metres.

The closure is scheduled to begin at 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2025, and will continue until 6:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 8, 2025.

"This will involve the closure of the outer single lane of approximately 10 metre long, and it is scheduled to take place on Saturday June 7, 2025 at 10.00pm to Sunday June 8, 2025 at 6.00am," KeNHA confirmed.

Motorists using the Southern Bypass during the specified hours are urged to exercise caution.

"KeNHA advises motorists to approach the section with caution and follow the traffic guidance as well as cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site," the notice advised.
