Kisumu Governor Prof. Anyang' Nyong'o has expressed support for the newly established partnership between President William Ruto and Azimio leader Raila Odinga.
In a statement on Wednesday, June 4, Nyong’o welcomed the agreement, saying it reflected a positive shift in the country’s political landscape.
"We wholeheartedly support the decision by President William Ruto and Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga to work together in the interest of national unity and development.
"As a county, we stand firmly behind the vision outlined in the recently signed MoU that underpins the Broad-Based Government," he said.
Nyong'o noted that the new alliance has already sparked optimism across the country and urged citizens to embrace the emerging spirit of peace and cooperation.

"We celebrate the peace, unity, and renewed sense of hope that this partnership has inspired across the country. We call upon all Kenyans to rally behind this vision for a stronger, more inclusive Kenya," he added.
Nyong’o also noted that Ruto is always welcomed to Kisumu County, further urging the duo to continue touring the country together.
"Finally, we warmly assure H.E. the President that he is always welcome in Kisumu. We encourage both him and the former Prime Minister to continue their joint tours across the country.
"Together, their leadership can usher in a new era of meaningful progress and national cohesion," he further said.
This acknowledgement comes a month after Nyong’o accused Ruto’s administration of undermining devolution, likening the current government's actions to the Nyayo era.
In a statement on Tuesday, April 22, he argued that actions by the Ruto administration reflect leadership styles that predate the 2010 Constitution.
Nyong’o warned that such moves threaten the goals of building a democratic and developmental state.
“The truth is that the Ruto regime has decided to go back to pre-devolution times of the Nyayo era. The 2010 constitution is a hindrance to its primitive accumulation schemes, which will affect not only devolution but the very ethos of building a national democratic and developmental state," he said.
