Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wah has explained that he has been making donations from the money he is earning as an MP and from his businesses.
Speaking in Kitui on Monday, June 9, the MP noted that he was making enough income to enable him to support the ongoing empowerment programme being undertaken by President William Ruto's allies.
At the function, he donated Ksh500,000, explaining that the money was from his salary, in addition to funds raised from selling his cattle.
"When they (opposition leaders) look at me, do they think that I was born recently? Even for today's donation, I have sold a cow," he explained.
"I also have a salary as an MP and an allowance of being the Majority Leader. Can I lack the money to give?"

Meanwhile, he castigated opposition leaders for opposing the empowerment programme, given that the leaders questioned the source of the money donated at the events.
"Now they are coming here (opposition leaders) with 100 cars and telling you that you should not take that money home," he stated.
"When you get it, invest in your business, educate your children, and help build the economy.
In recent weeks, opposition leaders have castigated Ruto allies for their multi-million donations to the empowerment programmes.
Some of the opposition leaders question the source of the money, given that they were in excess of the salaries that MPs are paid.
“We are seeing how they have now collected public funds and they have given it to the governors, MPs, and the yes sir (Kindiki) to come and give out," Former DP Rigathi Gachagua stated.
"Why can't they take all that money and use it to educate the children of Kenya? There is no need to take public funds yet, children are not learning, schools have issues, and they have been unable to pay suppliers."
