The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has announced the recruitment of secondary school teachers and college tutors as assessors for KCSE oral and practical papers.

In a notice on Tuesday, June 10, KNEC said the recruitment exercise will run until July 30, 2025.

The examination council invited interested and qualified secondary school teachers and college tutors to apply for the roles.

“The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) wishes to recruit Secondary School teachers/ College tutors as assessors for KCSE oral and practical papers between 10th June and 30th July 2025.

“The selected professionals will be trained on the job during assessment of the 2025 KCSE examination papers. Teachers/Tutors who are already in the KNEC database of assessors need not apply,” the notice read in part.

The KCSE subjects open for assessment include Power Mechanics, Electricity, Aviation Technology, French Oral, German Oral, Arabic Oral, Kenyan Sign Language Signing Practical, and Music Practical.

To qualify for recruitment, an applicant must be a practicing teacher/tutor in the relevant subjects, registered or employed by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) or a recognized professional body, and have a Diploma (and above) in Education or in the relevant area of specialization.

The applicants should also have a minimum of three years of teaching experience, not be subject to interdiction or any other form of disciplinary action by their employer, be recommended by their head of institution or employer, and be 50 years of age or below.

For Aviation Technology, applicants must have a Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering.

How to Apply

Applicants are required to access the KNEC examiners’ portal using the link https://examinersapp.knec.ac.ke.

Those with CP2 accounts should log in to the portal using their usernames and passwords.

Applicants without CP2 accounts are required to click the "Create Account" button and follow the instructions to acquire login credentials.

“Those who have forgotten their CP2 passwords should click the Reset Password button and enter their mobile number in the format (2547********) and submit to get new passwords for logging into the portal,” KNEC stated.

Upon successful login, applicants should navigate to the dashboard and click on 'Apply for Assessors’ Vacancies' to view and select from all available openings

Further, KNEC said the slots are limited and only qualified applicants who have presented all the required documents will be shortlisted for the exercise.
