Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has been confirmed with an honorary doctorate degree in leadership and governance by the American University of Peace and Governance USA.
The institution recognised Sonko's outstanding contributions to sustainable humanitarian efforts, social work and human capital development.
The award ceremony was held at the historic House of Lords of British Parliament and was part of the third edition of the Global Leadership Investment Summit and Peace Award, whic is organised by the UK chapter of the United Nations International Peace and Governance Council.
An excited Sonko attributed the recognition to God.

Sonko was among other personalities from across the globe nominated feted for their humanitarian efforts and commitment to positive contribution to the society.
The event saw the attendance of renowned figures in the charity space, including Dr. Bastin Titus Anthony Raj and Dr. Michael Kanthakaran.
Sonko has endeared himself to many thanks to his philanthropy and commitment to helping the needy in the Kenyan society.
The latest of his charitable gestures was the adoption of a minor whose father was killed in Nairobi.
In January this year, the former county boss took it upon himself to take care of Baby James after his father was stabbed to death in Mathare.
The youngster was being take to school by his father when the attackers intercepted them.
They killed his father leaving him helpless to the mercy of wellwishers who rescued him.
Sonko pledged to educate the child and live with him as he had no parent left.
The politician went beyond educating and accomodating the boy.
On realising that Baby James was traumatised at the scene of his father's murder, Sonko engaged professional therapists for the boy's healing journey.
