Sapit noted that the statement, which had hard-hitting attacks on President William Ruto, was not authored by him.

Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) Archbishop Jackson Ole Sapit has flagged a statement circulating on social media regarding the death of Albert Ojwang as fake.

Through his official social media handles, Sapit noted that the statement, which had hard-hitting attacks on President William Ruto, was not authored by him.

He therefore called on Kenyans to disregard the statement.

"We have noted a post circulating online concerning the tragic death of Albert Ojwang, a young Kenyan. First, let me state unequivocally: we grieve deeply. Every life lost unjustly is a wound to the soul of our nation. We continue to pray for the bereaved family and for Justice to prevail.

"However, I must clarify: The statements attributed to me in that post were not made by me," he clarified.

On the other hand, he stated that the authors of the fake statement were sensationalizing a serious issue regarding the death of a young man.

"While I remain unwavering in my commitment to truth, justice, and the dignity of our young people, I do not condone the misrepresentation of my words for any agenda, however well-intentioned," Sapit wrote.

"This is a time for sobriety, not sensationalism. For healing, not hijacking. For truth, not twisting. Let us mourn with those who mourn, let us pursue a just and peaceful future-with both integrity and compassion."

Nonetheless, he called on the authorities to take action over the death of Ojwang.

"We demand full accountability from the police, under whose custody this young man died. We call upon the government to bring an end to all forms of extrajudicial killings," he stated.

"And we urge all Kenyans to remain peaceful with one another, even as we stand firm in protecting our democratic and constitutional rights from those who would undermine them."

Ojwang died while being held by the police at the Central Police Station.

An autopsy on the body revealed that the teacher was assaulted before his death and sustained a head injury in the process.

The deceased also had neck compressions and injuries in other parts of the body.

"The cause of death is very clear. A head injury, neck compression, and we also have other injuries on other parts of the body that are pointing towards assault," Pathologist Bernard Midia announced.
