Most of the planned power interruptions will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Kenya Power has announced a planned power outage scheduled for Thursday, June 12, that will affect parts of 11 counties across the country.

In a statement on Wednesday, June 11, the company listed the areas affected by the planned power interruptions, most of which will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

In Nairobi, two major areas will experience outages.

In Parklands, parts of Massari Road, the entire 4th Parklands, and sections of 3rd Parklands including Presidential Escort, Diamond 1 & 2, Sky Mall, and nearby areas will be without electricity. 

In Lang’ata, areas around Lang’ata Road, including Galleria Mall, Muiri Lane and Close, Mac Fly, Ola Petrol Station, KWS Lang’ata Barracks, Camp David, Carnivore Restaurant, Trident Park, West Park Police Line, and several residential estates such as Daisy Park, Phenom Park, and Serene Park, will also be affected.

In Nyandarua County, power outages will affect areas around Kwaharaka, Karangatha, Mendandu, Mukiri, Ragia, Magumu, and neighboring communities including Nyakio, Kenyatta Road, Heni, Rwanyambo, Githioro, Gathanga, and Bongo Girls.

The blackout will hit Maralal Township, Posta, Churo, Tangulbei, and surrounding areas including Mugie Ranch and Suguta Marmar, as well as Kisima, Maralal Water Supply, Poro Radar Station, and Loosuk in Samburu County.

In Uasin Gishu County, power will be cut in Cheptiret, Kerita, Burnt Forest, Kapkoi, and nearby areas including Cheptiret Primary, Chepkitiny, Bayete, Ngarua, Cherus, Kondoo, Kitingia, and Ndanai.

Elsewhere in Kisumu County, areas such as Sajanarnd Quarry, Ober Kamoth Market, Chuth Ber Market, Ujenzi Quarry, and Bizons will be affected.

In Busia County, Bumala Market and surrounding facilities like Equity Bank, Bumala Police Station, Busire Catholic, and Busire Village will be without power.

In Kakamega County, the Shikhoti area including Tumaini, Eshiongo, and Eshumiya will experience interruptions.

Meanwhile, in Murang’a County, Kenol Town and Komorori will be affected, including key facilities such as Kenol DC Office, Education Office, Police Station, Law Court, Purple House Street, Kamengwa, Mgimu, Githanji Estate, and Kimorori.

In Kiambu County, part of Kikuyu Town, including Muthiga, Gitaru, Kahuho, Kanjeru, Cura, Connix, Ondiri, Ruku, Kirangari, and Sigona will have no power.

In Mombasa County, parts of Nyali including Greenwood Drive, Mama Ngina Road, Light Academy, Greenwood Lane, Saitoti Heights, Greenwood Mall, Park Lane, Maasai Koroga, Mvita Heights, Coral Drive, Naivas Supermarket Bombolulu, Kisimani, and Makaburini will be affected.

In Kwale County, areas in Diani such as Neptune, Mwisho wa Lami, Lantana Galu, Lala Galu, Diani Beach Park, Pinewood, Koromandale, Sonrisa, and Chale will also experience outages.
