The family of former Harambee Stars skipper Victor Wanyama has been thrown into mourning following the passing of their matriarch, Mildred Barasa.
Wanyama's elder brother, McDonald Mariga, broke the sad news.
Mariga, who is the vice president of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF), announced via X that their mother had died on Saturday morning, June 14.
He did not disclose the cause of the death.
Mariga said their family had immediately embarked on the arrangements to lay their mother to rest, promising more details in due course.

"It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, who left us peacefully this morning. We are currently making arrangements and will share more details soon! Thank you," Mariga posted.

The deceased is survived by his husband, Noah Wanyama, a former Kenyan footballer, and three other children besides Maringa and Victor, namely; Sylvester, Thomas and Mercy Wanyama.
