The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA), in collaboration with the County Government of Homa Bay, has announced the temporary closure of the Kanyadhiang' Bridge in Kendu Bay.
In a join statement on Saturday, June 14, the two entities said the closure is meant to facilitate urgent repairs on the bridge’s approach slab.
"We would like to assure all road users that while repair works are being carried out on the approach slab, the bridge's main structure remains completely safe and stable. KeNHA teams have responded immediately, and repair works are currently underway to restore normal operations as quickly as possible,” the statement read.
As such, motorists have been advised to use a designated diversion route as repair works continue.
Those traveling towards Kendu Bay should turn left at Goshen Hotel, proceed via Oluch Intake Bridge, continue past Nyangajo Primary School, and then join Obama Road which reconnects to the main road.

On the other hand, motorists coming from Homa Bay should turn right onto Obama Road, pass Nyangajo Primary School, cross Oluch Bridge, go by Goshen Hotel, and then rejoin the main route.
Authorities have urged road users to exercise caution and follow guidance from traffic officers and marshals who have been stationed at key diversion points.
*We request all road users to drive carefully and follow instructions from traffic police and marshals stationed at the diversion points. We apologize for any inconvenience this necessary maintenance work may cause and thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this period,” the statement concluded.
This comes days after KeNHA announced that a section of Mombasa Road near Naivas JKIA will experience traffic disruption along the Mombasa-bound Service lanes.
In a notice on Wednesday, June 11, KeNHA said the disruption will be from Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 9.00 pm to Sunday, June 15, 2025, at 10.00 am.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify the public that a section of Mombasa Road (A8) near Naivas JKIA will experience traffic disruption along the Mombasa bound Service lanes from Saturday, 14th June, 2025 at 9.00 pm to Sunday, 15th June, 2025 at 10.00 am,” read the notice in part.
KeNHA noted that the temporary closure of the section will allow the installation of the fabricated footbridge beams of the Syokimau Railway Footbridge.
