"No amount of money, promises, jobs, houses, or other lies can return your son."

Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has urged Meshack Opiyo, the father of Albert Ojwang, to distance himself from the media and politicians in the wake of President William Ruto’s recent donation to the bereaved family.

In a statement on Monday, June 16, Amisi cautioned Opiyo, noting that the move is aimed at calming the rage of Kenyans.

"To Albert Ojwang's father, avoid availing yourself to political machinations, political vultures, and state-sponsored narratives aimed at calming the rage of Kenyans," he said.

With Ruto offering financial assistance and promises of a new home, Amisi warned that no compensation could undo the pain or restore the life lost.

"No amount of money, promises, jobs, houses, or other lies can return your son to this world. You loved your son. Mourn him and keep off the media and politicians, do this for the respect of your son," he added.

Ruto reportedly called Opiyo to console with him following the loss of his son's life, and donated Ksh2 million.

Opiyo revealed that Ruto called him some time last week to deliver his message of condolences.

He expressed gratitude to Ruto for empathizing with his family, noting that the Head of State took his son's death as a personal loss.

"I want to thank the President for taking my son Albert as his son and feeling the pain. There are so many people who have died, and he has decided to take the loss as his own and called me to send his condolences," he stated.

Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga also confirmed the phone call, adding that the President gave her the donation to give to the family.

"The President called Ojwang's father after I looked for the number and gave it to him. He said his sorry as a parent who feels the pain. He has also sent me here today with Ksh2 million," she announced.

Wanga also announced that she would be constructing a house for Ojwang's father.

"Albert would have built a house for the father. I will build a 2-bedroom house for mzee at the cost of Ksh1.5 million," she stated.
