President William Ruto has called on members of the executive to up their game and assist him in transforming the country.

Speaking during the annual executive retreat on Thursday, June 19, Ruto expressed that the Cabinet Secretaries were doing a commendable job in their respective ministries.

However, he asserted that they needed to do even more to ensure that the country is transformed.

The Head of State stated that they would let the country down if they failed to undertake decisions aimed at changing Kenya.

"If we do not succeed and allow this country to slip back, we will have let this country down in a very profound way," he stated.

"That is why we must up our game. I know we are making strides in many areas. Miano here will tell us how we are pushing the tourism numbers, and we can feel it... Everyone is pulling their weight, and I just want to let you know that we are one team."

Meanwhile, he maintained that he was focused on making big and uncomfortable decisions for the sake of the country.

He revealed that many people had criticised him for taking on too many projects in the first term, adding that the focus of the leaders was not the elections in 2027.

”I have even had occasion, people telling me, I have picked up too many things, especially the difficult ones. You would have waited for your 2nd term. We have been timid about what needs to be done in Kenya,” Ruto remarked.

“Our focus is not the next election. Our focus is the transformation of Kenya.”

The President added that many people had also questioned the promises made before the election. He insisted that all the promises made could be attained within five years.

"The accusation I often get is that we overpromised. But I want to tell you that we did not overpromise, we promised what is doable," Ruto expressed.
