Macharia’s nomination to Murang’a County comes ahead of her retirement from TSC. 

Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata has nominated ex-Teachers Service Commission (TSC) CEO Nancy Macharia to chair the Murang’a County Public Service Board.

In a communication to the Murang’a County Assembly dated June 18, Governor Kanga’ta nominated Macharia and four other individuals to the board.

“Pursuant to Section 6 of the Public Appointments (County Assemblies Approval) Act 2017 and Section 58A (7) of the County Governments Act, 2012, vide a letter Ref. MCG/CS/GOV/ST/21(62) dated June 10, 2025, the County Assembly received notification that H.E. the Governor of Murang’a County Government, Dr. Irungu Kangata, has nominated the following as Chairperson, Members, and Secretary to the Murang’a County Public Service Board,” the message read in part.

The four other nominees to the Murang’a County Public Service Board include: Dr. Louis Mwende Musikali, Johnson Kangethe Kinyua, Dr. Brian Lishenga Makamu, and Oscar Kimani Gathura (Secretary).

Macharia and the four other nominees are scheduled to appear before the Murang’a County Assembly on Friday, June 27, at 10:00 am for vetting.

The nominees are required to present original copies of academic certificates, a clearance certificate from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), a compliance certificate from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), clearance certificates from the National Police Service, the Credit Reference Bureau, and the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), as well as a copy of their National ID or passport during the vetting process.

Meanwhile, members of the public have been invited to submit views on the suitability of the 5 nominees before Thursday, June 26, 2025, at 4:00 pm.

“The submissions should be by way of sworn affidavits and hand delivered to the Office of the Clerk in sealed envelopes and addressed to the Ag. Clerk, Murang’a County Assembly, P.O. Box 731-10200, Murang’a or emailed to [email protected] so as to be received on or before Thursday, June 26, 2025 at 4:00 pm,” a notice from the Murang'a County Assembly states.

The former TSC CEO proceeded to a terminal leave on June 1 and was replaced by Eveleen Mitei in an acting capacity.
