The Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO) has issued a warning over an individual falsely claiming to be the company’s Managing Director and CEO.
In a statement on Friday, June 20, KETRACO said the contacts that the impersonator has been presenting to unsuspecting members of the public are not associated with the company's CEO.
"It has come to our attention that an individual is using the mobile number 0735982112, landline number 0202717001, and email [email protected] has been falsely presenting themselves as the MD and CEO of KETRACO. These contacts do not belong to our MD & CEO or KETRACO. We believe this misrepresentation is for malicious purposes,” the company said.
As such, KETRACO urged the public to be cautious when interacting with individuals purporting to represent the corporation
“We strongly advise the public to exercise extreme caution and be vigilant against such fraudulent schemes. KETRACO will not be held responsible for any losses or damages incurred due to engaging with individuals who misrepresent themselves as our officials,” the statement read.

KETRACO called on Kenyans to use official communication channels to verify any information regarding tenders, job opportunities, or correspondence with the company.
This comes a month after the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) issued a warning to the public regarding a fraudulent TikTok account impersonating the agency.
The account, operating under the handle “ntsaknya,” has been flagged as fake, with NTSA cautioning Kenyans not to interact with it under any circumstances.
In a communication on Thursday, May 15, NTSA stated that it does not operate any TikTok profile and urged members of the public to disregard and report the impersonating account immediately.
The authority emphasized that all official communication is strictly conducted through its recognized platforms, including its X account (@ntsa\_kenya), Facebook page (NTSA KENYA), YouTube channel (NTSA\_Kenya), and its official website (ntsa.go.ke).
NTSA further advised members of the public who may have been deceived or scammed through such platforms to report at the nearest police station.
“If you come across a suspicious account claiming to belong to NTSA, do not engage; report it immediately. Members of the public conned via such platforms should immediately report to the nearest police station for further action,” the statement read.
