Kenya Power has announced a scheduled power outage across 11 counties on Thursday, July 3.

In a statement on Wednesday, July 2, the power utility said the planned interruptions are necessary to facilitate network maintenances.

In Nairobi, Parklands will experience outages between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., including Legal Plaza, parts of Limuru Road, 6th Parklands, Ita Road, and surrounding areas. 

In Kahawa West, power will be cut in Kiwanja, Esthers Apartments, Farmers Choice, the Soweto area, Kahawa West Roundabout, and adjacent regions. 

Kilimani will also be hit, including Dennis Pritt Road, Yaya Centre, Prestige Plaza, and Moi Girls Kibera, among others.

Parts of Lang’ata Road including Galleria Mall and Panda Mart will also be affected. 

Additionally, areas along Waiyaki Way and in Loresho, such as Mountain View Estate, Kangemi, and Loresho Ridge, will be without electricity during the same period.

In the Central Rift region, parts of Samburu County, particularly Posta, Mugie Ranch, Churo, Suguta Marmar, and Maralal Township, will face a power outage from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The North Rift region will see areas in Uasin Gishu County such as Cheptiret, Kerita, Burnt Forest, and surrounding locations affected between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

In Western Kenya, Vihiga County’s Mbihi area including Demesi, Mbihi Girls, and Mahadia will experience outages from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

In Bungoma County, Butali, Chebwayi, and the Pan Africa Chemicals Industries area will have no power between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Residents of Kijawa in Homa Bay County, including Kijawa Health Center and Ruga, will face interruptions from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

In the Mt. Kenya region, Laikipia County areas such as Timau Town, Maritati, and several farms including Batian and Siraji will be affected from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

Parts of Kiambu County, particularly Kimende, Carbacid, and Kambaa, will also be without power during the day.

In Kitui County, residents of Mutune, Wanzua, Kasyala, and nearby areas will be affected between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Coastal regions will also experience outages. In Kilifi County, Matsangoni, Mida Creek, and parts of Gede Forest will be affected. 

Meanwhile, parts of Tana River County including Masalani Town, Mikinduni Market, and Ijara Village will also face a blackout.
