Mosiria and his enforcement team were met with hostility after raiding an event to switch off loud music.

Nairobi CEC for Environment Geoffrey Mosiria encountered supposedly rowdy event organizers who tried to frustrate his efforts to enforce law and order.

On late Saturday evening, July 5, Mosiria and his team raided an event in Nairobi's Kilimani area where loud music and noise from revellers rented the air.

Mosiria revealed he was acting on complaints from residents and patients in a nearby hospital.

"I received a complaint that there was a club near State House causing excessive noise late into the night. We swiftly responded and visited areas around Milimani, but after thorough checks, we confirmed that the noise was not coming from any club in that area," he said.

In the company of his enforcement team, Mosiria located the event and set out for it with the intent of switching off loud music.

Goeffrey Mosiria and his team had difficulty stopping an event in Kilimani.

Their efforts to restore order were, however, met with resistance and stubbornness from the organizers and some of the revellers.

Mosiria filmed them abusing him and his team and asking them to leave the venue with the threat of calling their lawyers on him.

They claimed to have obtained a permit to carry out the event.

But despite the hostility he was met with, Mosiria insisted on the loud music being turned off.

"I calmly and respectfully asked the organizers to reduce the volume or end the event in order to stop the clear case of noise pollution. Unfortunately, instead of cooperating, they turned violent, insulted me, and even threatened me with their lawyer, trying to blackmail and intimidate us with the false claim that they had a right to such disruptive noise in that setting," Mosiria lamented.

He stood his ground despite the setbacks, with one of the organizers, a lady, complying with his demands.
