The clarification by NPS comes as Kenya marks the 35th anniversary of Saba Saba Day.
In Nairobi Central Business District (CBD), the streets were deserted, with only a handful of people seen around the National Archives.
However, in Kitengela town, Kajiado County, chaos was witnessed as police officers engaged in running battles with protestors.
The protestors had blocked the Nairobi–Namanga Road, paralyzing transport along the highway and lit bonfires.
Anti-riot police officers lobbed tear gas canisters at the youth to disperse them. Two anti-riot water cannons have also been deployed.
The Saba Saba protests were also witnessed in Kiserian, Karatina, Kamukunji, Thika Road and Mwea.
