A man was shot on Monday, July 7, along Jogoo Road after scuffles ensued in ongoing Saba Saba Day commemorations in the country.

According to footage viewed by Nairobileo.co.ke, several people rescued the injured citizen and rushed him to the nearest hospital, while others scattered from the scene.

It is yet to be confirmed the extent of the injuries; however, local reports have confirmed that police launched rubber bullets to disperse the crowd, hitting one Dennis. The victim is receiving medical care at a medical center.

Violence and unrest were reported along Jogoo Road and its environs as journalists ran into hiding while others were caught up in the scene. However, no injuries were reported.

The Saba Saba demonstrations have continued in various towns in the country, as protestors lit tires and blocked several major roads.

Additional police officers have been deployed in certain areas, such as Kitengela, as the protests intensify in various corners of Kajiado town.

In an effort to manage the masses, police officers erected blockages on several roads leading to the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD), including Thika Road, Ngong' Road, Mombasa Road, and even along the Waiyaki Way.

In addition, bodaboda riders accused of sneaking passengers into the CBD were later arrested at the Globe roundabout, and their motorcycles confiscated.

In contrast, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Gilbert Masengeli dismissed claims that people were blocked from accessing the CBD, insisting that everybody was allowed to move freely, contrary to the situation witnessed by many citizens.

Several developments have been recorded as the Saba Saba commemorations continue in Nairobi and Kisii, among other towns.
