Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has fired back at a social media user who challenged him to table an impeachment motion against President William Ruto in the National Assembly.
In a post on the X platform on Wednesday, July 9, the social media user said Babu should initiate an impeachment motion against the President instead of joining protestors on the streets.
“I always see Babu Owino at the protests, and I am really baffled. If he truly wants President Ruto out, he should table a motion in Parliament instead of taking us for fools,” the social media user stated.
In response, the Embakasi East lawmaker suggested that it would be impossible for the impeachment motion against Ruto to sail through.
Babu alleged that 90 percent of members of parliament are compromised, hence it would be hard to remove the head of state.

“Will your father support it in parliament? I don’t know failure because 90% of MPs are compromised,” the ODM MP responded.
This comes after People’s Liberation Party (PLP) leader Martha Karua challenged MPs opposed to the Kenya Kwanza government to initiate impeachment proceedings against Ruto.
“Parliament can actually redeem itself, and even the few who speak for the people can initiate impeachment against the president.
“An impeachment motion, whether successful or not, offers a chance to ventilate, sensitize Kenyans and the world of what is going on,” Karua said on Tuesday.
