Governor Simba Arati has urged retired President Uhuru Kenyatta and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka to rejoin the ODM party in honour of Raila Odinga.

Kisii Governor Simba Arati has appealed to retired President Uhuru Kenyatta and Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF) leader Kalonzo Musyoka to rejoin the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

Speaking on Saturday, October 25, in Kisumu County, Arati said the two leaders can honour the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga by rejoining the ODM party ahead of the 2027 general election.

The ODM Deputy Party leader also extended an olive branch to President William Ruto to join the party.

“As the deputy party leader, we have told William Ruto, former President Uhuru Kenyatta, and Kalonzo Musyoka they were in ODM.

“We are telling them, in honour of Raila Odinga, to come back and join us once again in ODM,” said the Kisii Governor.

Governor Arati went on to say the ODM party will remain strong despite the passing away of Raila.

“The ODM party will stand strong. These claims that some people will sell the party, that will not happen,” he added.

Arati’s remarks come ahead of the ODM Central Committee meeting slated for Monday, October 27, 2025.

Speaking on Thursday, October 23, Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir said the meeting will be chaired by acting ODM leader Oburu Odinga.

The ODM Deputy Party leader noted that the meeting will deliberate on 3 main issues, including the upcoming by-elections, the ODM at 20 celebrations, and updates on the 10-point agenda signed by the ODM and UDA parties.

“There will be a meeting on Monday, chaired by Dr. Oburu Odinga, who is the acting party leader. The agenda of the meeting will have three items. The first agenda item will focus on the upcoming by-elections, since our opponents currently hope that we will fall apart and fail to secure victory.

“The second agenda item will be the ODM 20th anniversary celebrations, and the third will be to get an update on the progress of the ten issues we agreed with the government,” said Governor Nassir.

The Mombasa Governor also stated that the ODM party will hold a parliamentary group meeting to address internal conflicts within the party and agree on the way forward.

“After the Central Committee has met, we will convene ODM Members of Parliament, Senators, and Governors together with the party leadership so that we can agree on the direction we should take,” he added.

Raila passed away on October 15 after suffering a cardiac arrest during a morning walk in India.

The ODM leader was laid to rest on Sunday, October 19, at his ancestral home in Kang’o Ka Jaramogi, Bondo, Siaya County.
