Equity Bank has announced intermittent downtime affecting its digital banking platforms.

Equity Bank has announced that it is currently experiencing intermittent downtime affecting its digital banking platforms.

In a statement on Friday, July 11, the bank acknowledged the technical difficulties and assured clients that efforts are underway to restore the services.

"Dear member, we are experiencing an intermittent service downtime on our digital banking channels.

"Our technical team is working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. We appreciate your patience during this time," the notice read.

At the same time, Equity issued a warning to customers about fraudsters who often take advantage of such outages to trick users into giving up their personal banking information.

"Please remember, Equity calls you from only one number 0763 000 000. Do not engage with anyone asking for your personal banking details.

"Equity will never ask for your bank details, PIN, Password, OTP or Card information on phone or SMS," the notice added.

The bank has digital banking channels including the Equity Mobile App where users can perform a wide array of financial activities, including transferring funds and paying bills.

This comes a month after Equity Bank addressed concerns raised by customers following a temporary disruption in its mobile banking services.

In a statement issued on May 15, the bank attributed the slowdown to widespread network interruptions that have impacted several of its banking operations.

“Dear Member, we are experiencing an intermittent outage affecting some of our banking services. Kindly bear with us as the technical team works to restore the services," the bank said.

Equity assured customers that efforts were underway to resolve the issue affecting digital platforms.

“We are working to restore the affected services as soon as possible. We are very sorry for the trouble on EazzyBiz. Our tech team is addressing a challenge affecting our services on the channel. Kindly bear with us a little longer,” added the bank.
