Former Constitution Implementation Committee (CIC) chairman Charles Nyachae has been called up to a government role months after flunking the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairmanship hunt.
President William Ruto reappointed him the non-executive chairman of the Kenya School of Government Council for three years.
"I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, re-appoints Charles Nyachae to be the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Kenya School of Government Council for a period of three (3) years, with effect from 13th July, 2025," read the president's gazette notice published on Friday, July 11.
The appointment would serve as a relief to Nyachae, who did not impress the IEBC selection panel a few months back.

He had sought to be the third chairman of the electoral agency.
Nyachae was among the 11 candidates shortlisted to steer the IEBC; Erastus Edung Ethekon appeared as the favourite of the panel.
Ethekon was approved by parliament, appointed by the president and later sworn in by Chief Justice Martha Koome to steward the commission.
Nyachae is a child of onetime prominent postindependent politician, the late Simeon Nyachae.
Meanwhile, the president appointed Ali Noor Ismail to be the non-executive chairperson of the Pest Control Products Board and Abdi Mude Ibrahim as the non-executive chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Veterinary Vaccines Production Institute, all to serve for three years.
