Police officers from Mtwapa Police Station in Kilifi County have arrested a notorious suspect behind a series of robberies in Mtwapa Town.
In a statement, the National Police Service (NPS) said the suspect was nabbed following a tip-off from members of the public.
The officers conducted a sting operation near Bemu Guest House in Mtwapa, where the suspect was apprehended.
“Following a tip-off from members of the public about a notorious gang of three men terrorising people in the Biashara Street area of Mtwapa town, Kilifi Sub-County, officers from Mtwapa Police Station sprang into action.
“They conducted a sting operation near Bemu Guest House, intercepting the gang and successfully arrested one suspect,” read part of the statement.

The officers recovered a backpack containing three smartphones, suspected to be stolen, seven and a half large rolls of green dry plant material, suspected to be cannabis, a kitchen knife, and a taser.
The suspect was taken to Mtwapa Police Station, awaiting arraignment in court, while the exhibits are securely stored at the station.
The officers are also following crucial leads and are in hot pursuit of the two remaining suspects.
“The National Police Service extends its gratitude to the members of the public for their invaluable information in combating crime,” NPS added.
Meanwhile, police officers from Gatuanyaga Police Post in Kiambu County have arrested four suspects linked to a robbery with violence case reported on 11 July 2025.
During the operation, the officers recovered a pistol and a blue Ranger motorcycle, both believed to have been used in the commission of the crime.
The 4 suspects are also in custody, pending arraignment in court.
