Ruto's CS made an appeal to Kalonzo to join the government, this coming after such attempts by DP Kindiki.

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has restated his disinterest in joining the Kenya Kwanza regime or even working with Raila Odinga again in the near future.

The latest to woo Kalonzo was Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi.

Speaking in Kituyi while flagging off rural electrification projects, Wandayi projected that Kalonzo would soon consider working with Ruto and Raila in the lead-up to the 2027 vote.

He asked the former vice president to ditch the opposition and help seek solutions to the Kenyan problems through the dialogue proposed by Raila.

"I respect Kalonzo Musyoka; he is my friend. I am certain that he will soon work with Raila Odinga and President William Ruto, and together they will push Kenya forward. When people talk, there are solutions to our problems," Wandayi said.

Reacting to the call, Kalonzo turned it down.

He said he would not wish to be part of a regime that unleashes atrocities on the citizenry without a second thought.

Kalonzo also downplayed the proposed dialogue, insisting he would not be party to it.

"I will NEVER join this rogue and criminal regime, and I refuse to participate in any type of dialogue with a regime that has our children's blood on its hands," he said.

Wandayi's effort to woo Kalonzo comes after many such attempts by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki.

Kindiki has been leading the calls to court Kalonzo into Ruto's fold.

Speaking during the recent empowerment programmes in the Ukambani region, Kindiki observed that Kalonzo was not cut out for the abrasive kind of politics he currently engages in in the company of former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua and other opposition honchos.

Kindiki said he would be looking for the Wiper leader for a possible political partnership with Ruto ahead of the next general election.

Kalonzo is currently keen on becoming Kenya's sixth president, insisting on being on the ballot in 2027 after shelving the bid three times in favour of Raila.

He was last on the presidential ballot in 2007, when he finished third in the presidential election marred by violence.

Kalonzo served as the late Mwaki Kibaki's vice president; in 2013, he shelved his bid to support Raila, who was seeking the presidency for the third time.

The Wiper leader shelved his bids also in 2017 and 2022, supporting Raila in all the instances.
