President William Ruto on Sunday, July 20, gifted a brand new Toyota Land Cruiser Prado to Bishop Benjamin Kalanzo during his installation ceremony in Machakos County.

Kalanzo was installed as the head of AIC Bomani church and Amos Ndunda as the assistant bishop.

Photos shared from the event showed Ruto personally handing the car keys to Kalanzo, with the gleaming white Prado parked nearby.

Speaking during the ceremony, Ruto addressed critics who have accused him of making promises that may be hard to fulfill.

"There is a bishop, as well as other people, who came and told me, 'You know whatever you promised, you did so because of the elections. Why don’t you revise some of that so the government can deliver what is possible?'

"But I told them no. I’ve been accused of overpromising. But let me tell Kenyans, it’s not about overpromising - it’s about raising our ambition," he said.

Ruto was accompanied by several senior government officials, including Labour Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua, local leaders, and clergy.

Mutua praised the church’s leadership and pledged government support to religious institutions as moral anchors for society.

"The installation marks a significant moment for the AIC church and the faithful in the region, as Bishop Kalanzo takes up the mantle to lead with humility, wisdom, and a deep sense of service.

"We prayed for him and reaffirmed our commitment to supporting the Church’s role in promoting moral values, unity, and community development," he said in a statement after the event.
