Kenya Power has announced scheduled power interruptions across five counties on Monday, July 21, as part of routine maintenance works.
In a statement on Sunday, July 20, the company announced that in Kericho County, power will be interrupted from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The affected areas include Litein Town and its surroundings, including Litein Tea Factory, Litein Mission Hospital, Cheborgei Market, Cheplangate Centre, and Kericho National Polytechnic.
Other locations to experience the blackout are Tebesonik Tea Factory, Cheboin Centre, part of Roret Market, and adjacent customers in the vicinity.
Nyeri County will also face a significant power disruption running from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Areas expected to be affected are Gikumbo Market and Ihwagi Market, along with nearby locations such as Kiamwangi Coffee Factory, Kwa Ngacha, Kahashu, part of Saigon, Kiaritha-ini Secondary School, Ihwagi Gathima, Ihwagi, Karura Coffee Factory, Karura, and Karura Primary School.
Also included are Eng. Maina, Gathumbi, parts of Unjiru, Kiandara, Gikumbo Secondary School, Shauri Moyo, Kihuro Primary School, Kihuro, Gaikuyu, Magutu Secondary School, Gaturumo-ini TBC, Kiamigwi Primary School, Ihwagi Secondary School, Ihwagi Coffee Factory, Gatondo, Gatondo Secondary School and Itundu.
Several Tea Buying Centres including Kariki, Chehe, Kiawaiguru, Kiarage, Kangiri, Gachugu-ina, and Gathehu. Gathehu Market, Gathehu Secondary School, Giakaibei Githima, Ragati Primary School, and mobile service boosters for Safaricom and Airtel are also listed among those to be affected.
Kirinyaga County residents will see outages from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. as well.
The areas impacted include Mukarara Market, Gatugura, Kimunye Market, Kimunye Tea Factory, and Kavote Market.
Areas also expected to be affected are Bokoli Market, Bokoli Dispensary, Bukembe Market, Chebesi Secondary School, and Matulo.
In Kiambu County, the power interruption is set to occur between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
The affected zones include the White Sisters area and part of Mangu Road.
Key facilities and estates impacted include Mpesa Foundation, Kilimambogo Millers, areas behind TIBS, Ngoingwa Classic, Family Gardens, PCEA, Kisiwa, Karibaribi, and Kawira.
Additional areas such as Makwa Boys, Makwa Dispensary, Makwa, Magumu, and Gakui Shopping Centre will also be without electricity during this period.
I Taita Taveta County, the Bura Mission area will undergo a power shutdown from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The blackout will affect the entire Bura Mission region along with neighboring localities including Ngami, Mnamu, Tungulu, Mlughu, Barawa, and surrounding customers.
