Lawyer Nelson Havi has advised President William Ruto to step away from the public eye for a few weeks.
Speaking on Monday, July 21, Havi urged Ruto to take a cue from the late President Daniel Moi, who disappeared from the public for some days.
“It is imperative for President William Ruto to do what Moi did at one point in time. Please disappear for a few weeks. Stop annoying the people of Kenya,” said Havi.
The former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) president criticized Ruto after he called on parents to take full responsibility for raising and mentoring their children.
Havi argued that President Ruto’s remarks were inappropriate for the office he holds and asked him to apologize.

“These children will be adults tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. They are the same children whom you will ask for their votes. It is their parents who voted for you. You cannot, by any measure of imagination, come on national TV in a church and make statements of this kind; it is not consistent with the office of the president of Kenya.
“What you should do is take the same microphone and apologize to the church, parents, and children. That is my plea to you, you are my friend and I have your best interests at heart,” Havi added.
Speaking during a church service in Machakos County on Sunday, President Ruto cautioned parents that neither the government nor institutions like the church can replace the role of parenting.
“The police are trained to deal with criminals. They are not trained in parenting. So, if you surrender your children to the police, what do you expect? Every parent should take time to parent their children,” Ruto said.
