The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has approved the ODM party's choice for a nominated MP set to replace National Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi in the National Assembly.
Mbadi, who had been a nominated MP, quit his seat in parliament after President William Ruto nominated him to the Cabinet.
Consequently, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula declared the seat vacant.
The ODM party settled on Harold Kimuge Kipchumba to replace Mbadi.
Kimuge represents people living with disability.

At the same time, the IEBC announced the reallocation of nine special seats in county assemblies.
According to the commission, the vacancies arose either due to death or resignations.
"In line with this mandate, the Commission has reallocated nine special seats in various County Assemblies, following declarations of vacancies by the respective Speakers. These vacancies arose due to the resignation or death of the former members," said IEBC chairman Erastus Ethekon.
In the Garissa County Assembly, the UDA party replaced nominated MCA Abdi Gedi Adow with Dubat Abdikadir Adan, representing the youth.
In Murang'a, the UDA party replaced the late Mark Wainaina with Kirumwa Peter Mbogo.
In the Kiambu County Assembly, the UDA party replaced Kihara Ezra Kabuga with Wainaina Lawrence Mburu.
In Taita Taveta, the Wiper party replaced Constance Mwandawiro with Ann Wambui Mukuru.
In Makueni, Maendeleo Chap Chap settled on Esther Mwongeli to replace Magdalene Kamene Nguluku.
The commission is preparing to hold 23 pending by-elections across the country, which include Senate (1), National Assembly (6), and Member for County Assemblies (16).
