Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has announced that the Sagana Industrial Park is nearing completion, with the ongoing construction of the County Aggregation and Industrial Park (CAIP) and the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) now standing at 85 percent.
Speaking on Tuesday, July 29, Waiguru said the construction of key infrastructure, including warehouses and cold storage facilities, is progressing well and remains on schedule.
She revealed that 18 investors who had been shortlisted to establish factories within the park are ready to begin operations as soon as the facility’s infrastructure is fully in place.
"This project is a game-changer for Kirinyaga, we are not only creating infrastructure but unlocking value chains for our farmers and generating sustainable employment opportunities for our young people," she said.

Waiguru further noted that the customs-controlled area has already been secured with fencing, while progress on the Export Processing Zone (EPZ) is steadily advancing.
She added that the county government has committed funds to build two additional warehouses to expand the park's capacity.
"One warehouse is at 95%, while the others are at around 80%, only awaiting floor casting and wall finishes," she explained.
The industries to be established by the selected investors will focus on the processing and manufacturing of products for export, particularly in agriculture, leather, and textile sectors.
Efforts are also underway to install critical amenities at the site, including water supply, road access, electricity, and security infrastructure.
Once complete, Sagana Industrial Park will be the first climate-smart agro-industrial city in the Central region, designed to boost agro-processing, enhance manufacturing, and generate employment for county residents.
"We are positioning Sagana to become a key industrial hub in the region," she stated. This development is projected to create more than 5,000 direct and indirect job opportunities for Kirinyaga residents," she said.
