Covid Surge Kenya
Dr Mwachonda urged Kenyans to adhere to the set Covid-19 mitigation measures to avoid overwhelming the already stretched facilities in the country.
"This month has recorded an increase in healthcare workers infection. There are currently 10 doctors admitted in various facilities across the country and this indicates the need for extra precaution from members of the public seeking healthcare services in our hospitals," Mwachonda stated.
He urged the Ministry of Health to expedite the renewal of contracts for 156 healthcare workers hired to isolation and treatment centres across the country.
"County governments should address grievances at the workplace to avoid industrial unrest and provision of PPEs," Mwachonda urged.
Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua also urged Kenyans to take necessary precautions to avoid infection and spread of the virus, adding that ICU beds in the county are full.
The county recorded 66 new infections out of the 1,127 cases reported on Tuesday, March 13.
